HWA International School

Preparing students to be active participants in a lifelong journey of learning

In 2006, Chinese International School in Singapore was established at the invitation of the Singapore Government’s Economic Development Board (EDB) and with the support of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Singapore. The school is the first fully IB (Kindergarten – Pre-University) and school with a Chinese cultural characteristics in Singapore. The school moved to Marina Square in 2022 and changed its name to HWA International School.

Since 2006, the school has always adhered to the ideal of the beginning of the establishment of the school. It carried out the purpose of IB education, uphold the fine tradition of Chinese culture, advocate the integration of Chinese and Western culture of the educational concept and played to Singapore’s geographical advantages. The school used many years to organize international education projects experiences and as comprehensive educational institutions have a variety of educational resources to provide a full range of IB Chinese International school.

HWA has always been based on the international education in the context of multi-cultural as its own educational characteristics, in the display of the fine traditions of Chinese culture, while emphasizing mutual understanding and respect between different cultures. The school’s faculty and students come from all over the world, and shared values and ideals unite all members of the school into a family of nations full of understanding and love. The school seeks to develop an international consciousness to adapt to the current trend of economic and social development in today’s world by providing students with an international education based on IB standards and imparting knowledge that is in keeping with the current development of science, technology and culture in the world.

Learning Life Skills

To grow into well-functioning adults, it is critical that youth learn key life skills. Life skills include critical and creative thinking, decision-making, effective communication, as well as skills for developing healthy relationships and a positive self-concepts. Life skills help people make responsible and informed choices and can promote healthy lifestyles as well as career skills. According to WHO, life skills may be defined as “abilities for adaptive and positive behavior, that enable individuals to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life… Every school should enable children and adolescents at all levels to learn critical health and life skills.”
