Celebrates the Mid-Autumn Festival with Joy and Fun

Friday, HWA International School hosted a vibrant Mid-Autumn Festival celebration, where students and teachers, dressed in festive attire, came together to embrace both tradition and diversity, reflecting the school’s commitment to multicultural education within the IB curriculum.

The event began with a speech from the Principal, who highlighted the significance of the Mid-Autumn Festival, emphasizing the values of unity and gratitude, which align with the IB philosophy of international-mindedness. The Principal also extended warm wishes for happiness and togetherness to the school community. Following the speech, Grade 11 students took the stage to explain the rich history of the festival and performed a beautiful Chinese song, creating a bridge between cultures for students from various backgrounds.

In the spirit of the IB programme’s focus on experiential learning, the celebration transitioned into an engaging game session. The school organized a variety of activities in different classrooms, combining both cultural and modern elements. Students participated in traditional Chinese games, such as idiom challenges, candle blowing, and reciting ancient poems while enjoying mooncakes. They also took part in contemporary games like table golf and lantern DIY.

The event showcased how HWA’s multicultural environment and IB education foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of diverse traditions. Students from various cultural backgrounds enjoyed exploring Chinese heritage while connecting it to the global perspectives encouraged in their studies. The Mid-Autumn Festival celebration not only enriched campus life but also highlighted the value of cultural exchange and community building that is central to both IB and HWA’s educational vision.
