At HWA International School, we are committed to providing a rich and diverse learning experience that inspires students to explore, inquire, and grow. Our Educational Talk Program is designed to ignite curiosity across a wide range of subjects, aligned with the International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy, and tailored for different age groups. The talks reflect the IB’s transdisciplinary approach to learning and help students connect with real-world issues.

Concept: Identity | Western/ Eastern history, Civilisation
Topics :Comparative Analysis of Western and Eastern Philosophies: Students will compare and contrast the philosophical perspectives of Western civilizations (e.g., Ancient Greece, Roman Empire) and Eastern civilizations (e.g., Ancient China, India). They will explore how these philosophical traditions have influenced individual and collective identities.

Concept: Function & Change | Season , Geography , Timezone
Topics : Geo – Analyze the functions and changes of geographical locations on society, economy, and culture. Discuss how geographical locations influence human activities, resource allocation, and urban development, as well as how geographical factors shape human societies and cultures.

Concept: Perspectives | Emotions & Feeling thru appreciation of the aesthetic
Topics: Emotional Expression in Visual Arts: Explore how artists express emotions and feelings through visual arts such as painting, sculpture, and photography. Analyze different artistic styles and techniques used to convey a range of emotions, from joy and love to sadness and anger.

Concept: Causation and connection | Natural world , human societies, technology advance
Topics : Urbanization and Environmental Degradation: Analyze the causal relationships between urbanization, population growth, and environmental degradation. Discuss the impacts of urban sprawl, pollution, and resource consumption on ecosystems, biodiversity, and human well-being.

Concept: Form and reflection ｜structure and function of organizations , community
Topics : Urban planning/ Smart Cities and Digital Governance: Explore the concept of smart cities and the use of technology in urban governance and management. Discuss the potential benefits and challenges of digital innovations in areas such as urban mobility, energy management, and public service delivery, and examine examples of smart city initiatives around the world.

Sharing the planet
Concept: Responsibility ｜share finite resources with other people and with other living things, communities and the relationship
Topics : Sustainable Water Management: Explore responsible practices for sharing finite water resources with other people and living things. Discuss water and energy conservation strategies, water pollution prevention measures, and equitable access to clean water for communities worldwide.
For Grade 5-10
For students in G5- g10 and above , the focus will be on Introducing them to the

- comparison We will discuss the reasons why choosing the IB Primary Years (PYP), Middle Years (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP) can be beneficial for your child’s education.

- Showcasing school activities, events, celebrations, and field trips that provide opportunities for students to learn outside the classroom.
