HWA International School hosted two wonderful events that allowed students to showcase their talents and embrace the spirit of giving as part of their Christmas celebrations.
Firstly, the Primary Years Programme (PYP) classes concluded Unit 3 with a highly productive market event on December 13. The students had diligently explored topics such as markets, economies, and governmental services and systems. Applying their knowledge and skills, each class meticulously prepared and sold various products. The students’ efforts included creating shopping lists, going on shopping trips, conducting taste tests, and analysing market surveys. These preparations undoubtedly paid off, as almost all products were sold out! Even more remarkably, the proceeds from the market event were directed towards supporting the Singapore Food Bank, contributing to a meaningful and philanthropic cause. This aligned perfectly with the school’s Christmas theme of “The Gift of Giving,” further emphasizing the importance of caring for others and making a difference in our community.
Secondly, on December 15, HWA International School’s community came together for a special Christmas event. The celebration centred around the theme of “The Gift of Giving,” highlighting the generosity associated with the holiday season. Students and teachers enthusiastically volunteered to participate in a school-wide talent show, providing a platform to showcase their remarkable abilities to their friends and family. From singing and dancing to magic tricks and poetry recitations, the talent show was filled with awe-inspiring performances that showcased the students’ creativity and dedication. The feeling of togetherness and excitement was heightened by the exchange of gifts among everyone, fostering a festive atmosphere and spreading the joy of Christmas throughout the school.
Both events served as a testament to HWA International School’s commitment to providing holistic education that went beyond academics. By organizing the PYP market event and the Christmas celebration, the school encouraged students to learn through practical experiences, instilled the values of empathy and compassion, and reinforced the importance of being active contributors to the community.
HWA International School would like to express its gratitude to all the students, teachers, and parents who contributed to the success of these events. Their enthusiasm and support made these occasions truly memorable and demonstrated the incredible community spirit within our school. Let us continue to embrace the spirit of giving, both during the holiday season and throughout the year, as we nurture future generations of compassionate and socially responsible individuals.
