On the 24th of May, the halls of HWA International School pulsed with excitement as the HHCKLA Buddhist Wong Cho Sum School from Hong Kong made a spirited visit. With radiant smiles and boundless energy, the visiting students arrived early, eager to partake in a day of cultural exchange and discovery.
The morning commenced with a comprehensive tour of the school, allowing our guests to familiarize themselves with the HWA environment. As they stepped into classrooms, they were met with enthusiastic greetings and warm embraces from HWA students, swiftly forging connections and easing into the day’s activities.
Under the guidance of Teacher Sheryl, the students were divided into two groups for their initial session. One group immersed themselves in a dynamic exploration of data representation and interpretation, crafting their own inquiries, conducting surveys among peers, and analyzing the gathered data. This engaging exercise seamlessly integrated with the overarching theme of their Unit of Inquiry, fostering a deeper understanding of scientific and mathematical concepts.
Simultaneously, the second group, under the mentorship of our esteemed PYP coordinator, Teacher Regina, embarked on an enlightening journey into the intricate subject of migration. Through thought-provoking discussions and activities rooted in the IB framework, students grappled with the myriad factors influencing migration decisions, honing their critical thinking skills and nurturing empathy in the process.
As the day drew to a close, it was evident that the experience had been enriching for all involved. Though farewells were exchanged, the indelible memories and newfound insights will endure, serving as catalysts for continued growth and understanding.
