Last week, the HWA Summer School program in Singapore delved into the theme “How We Express Ourselves,” offering students a comprehensive exploration of self-expression through various mediums as part of the IB PYP (Primary Years Programme) short-term program.
Classroom Activities
Students engaged in diverse summer activities that fostered a deeper understanding of themselves and their abilities to express thoughts and emotions. The curriculum included:
- Language Learning: Enhancing their ability to communicate effectively.
- Artistic Forms: Exploring creativity through different art techniques.
- English Vocabulary: Expanding their command of the English language.
- Design and Science: Utilising these fields to express innovative ideas and understand the world around them.
Museum Visits
The program also included educational excursions, where students visited the Singapore National Museum and the Peranakan Museum. These visits offered a rich cultural experience, allowing students to:

The week culminated in a presentation event, where students showcased their creations. They delivered speeches and displayed their works to an audience of parents, teachers, and peers, demonstrating their growth and self-expression capabilities.
