ESL Program
The English as a Second Language Program
HWA International School offers an ESL (English as a Second Language) course to help non-native speakers of English who need to improve their language skills for academic purposes. Through the course, students will develop their academic vocabulary, listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. The course is designed to meet the needs of individual students, taking into account their goals, interests, and language proficiency level. ESL classes often involve a combination of lectures, group discussions, and activities designed to improve proficiency in the English language.
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
- communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- expand their existing vocabulary
- use the grammar rules of English correctly in speaking and writing
- understand spoken and written English more effectively
- become more confident in using English, both in everyday conversations and in academic settings
Students’ progress will be assessed regularly and teachers’ feedback are provided to ensure that students are making progress towards their language learning goals. They are welcome to HWA mainstream courses when they successfully meet the exit criteria.
