HWA held its first augural World Book Day 2021 on 23 April 2021 in an effort to cultivate students who not only have strong literacy skills but also a true love of reading and learning. As part of HWA’s reading literacy programme, one of our major goals for the event is to expose students to new books and authors and provide students the opportunity to share what they are reading. The World Book Day celebration was a perfect way to celebrate all things literature related! The Reading Tic Tac Toe grid activity challenged the students, during their term break, to read in different languages and took them on oral, listening and speaking adventures as they found new ways to relate to the texts. Our creative students also took the time to dress as their favourite book characters and enjoyed their time in the Starbooks Cafe, toasting their newfound knowledge!
